Today, Ford Motor Company announced that it has created the most track-ready, road-legal Mustang ever produced. Unfortunately, it's a one-off. On the upside, the aviation-inspired sports car will be sold at auction with the proceeds going to benefit Experimental Aircraft Association's youth education programs.

Based on the high-performance Shelby GT350, and modeled after the famous North American P-51D Mustang airplane, The Ford "Ole Yeller" Mustang is powered by a 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated Ti-VCT V-8 engine with Flat Plane Crank that generates more than 520 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. Ole Yeller is equipped with a TREMEC 6-speed manual transmission and a specially tuned sport suspension, making it perfect for the track while still be allowed on public roads. The vehicle sports a custom yellow finish with unique "Ole Yeller" accents and badging. The inside features specially designed Recaro seats, sill plates, floor mats, and aviation-inspired gauges.

“We’re truly grateful Ford is, and has been, such a committed sponsor of EAA and AirVenture for more than 16 years now,” said Jack Pelton, EAA CEO and chairman of the board. “With its ninth Mustang donation, Ford has definitely delivered something exceptional that any auto or aviation enthusiast would love to own. The Ford “Ole Yeller” Mustang will allow EAA to provide support to our valuable programs helping us grow the next generation of aviators.”
